The end of the May always marks the annual celebration of music that is The Annual MTN South African Music Awards, now in its 18th edition. The SAMA’s celebrate the achievements and successes of the previous year in South African music and is the highest accolade awarded in the SA music industry.

“The Plain Truth” entered their new album, “we are the shining ones”, into the new category of “Best Contemporary Faith Music Album”, which combines all styles – English, Afrikaans, African languages etc within the contemporary music genre, thus fiercely increasing the competition for this coveted award.

The Plain Truth took home the SAMA this year in this category, taking their SAMA successes to three nominations and a win in just 4 years.

This album has racked-up won three awards, having also taken home two of the coveted awards at the 4th SABC Crown Music Awards for the Best Gospel Rock Album and Best Engineer earlier this year.

This is a huge honor for the band, and a great reward for the hard work that went into their new album.
